Will I see better
gas mileage with a performance chip?
Yes, you will; performance chips give you
the ability to modify the air to fuel ratio, which allows your engine to
operate at peak efficiency. If, however, you decide to put your foot on
the gas and "romp on it", as they say, your newly tuned engine, and your
gas tank, will respond accordingly.
What type of gas should I use with my
performance chip?
Most manufacturers of performance chips
actually recommend using a higher grade of fuel with their chips, such
as 89-93 octane rating. Why use a higher grade? Higher octane fuels
actually combust more efficiently and can generate more horsepower.
Can these performance chips void my
vehicle's warranty from the factory?
No, it is illegal for a dealership to
void your warranty due solely to an aftermarket tuner. However, most
performance chip manufacturers recommend that you remove the tuning
prior to taking your vehicle back to a dealer.

What if I want to revert back to my
factory settings? Performance
chips, today, actually take a "reading" of your original factory
settings and store them in the internal memory. They can be reset back
to original factory settings in a jippy, no worries.
Will a performance chip
harm my transmission or drive train?
No, In fact, your transmission operation
should be substantially improved.
I am not a computer geek, how
easy are performance chips to install and use?
Installing your performance chip is as easy
as plugging in your cell phone to the car lighter. Performance chips
basically walk you through every setting that you can possibly want; you
do not have to know computer programming at all.
What, exactly, does
AutoTruckToys.com mean when it says "performance chips" ?
When AutoTruckToys.com prints the word
"performance chip", we mean any of the family of engine
performance-enhancing products; such as programmers, modules, flashpaqs,
tuners, etc. There are really many names for these performance chips,
but they are not actually a "chip".
Do I have to have an
aftermarket air filter, cold air intake, etc. to use performance chips?
Most performance chips have separate
settings that allow you to use them with/without aftermarket
air filters,
cold air intakes, or high octane fuel.
AutoTruckToys.com does suggest that you utilize an
aftermarket air filter,
cold air intake, and high octane fuel
for optimum performance, fuel savings, and overall satisfaction.
What is a low temp
thermostat?
A Low Temp Thermostat, also called a 180
Degree Thermostat, is used with some performance chips and modules to
make engine cooling consistent. Jet Chips requires that you use a low
temp thermostat when using a stage 2 module. You can use a 180 degree
thermostat on just about any vehicle to lengthen your engine's life,
even if you don't use a performance module. Read more about
