The Jeep Wrangler is one of the most respected vehicles of its generations, and is the successor to the famous World
War II Jeep vehicle by way of the Willys civilian Jeep. The Wrangler debuted in 1987, was revised in 1997 and again
in 2007, and is still one of the most popular vehicles on the road. The defining feature of all the Wranglers is that
they continue to use live axles both front and rear like their forefather, the Jeep CJ.
Since its inception, the Jeep has been broken up in models for each year range that it was redesigned. Between
1987 and 1995, models were sold under the YJ designation. From 1997 and 2006, models were called the TJ’s with the
LJ name for the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited models introduced in 2004 to 2006. The 2007 to the present, models are
known as the JK. The model designations are used throughout the world, as well as in the Jeep enthusiast community
to differentiate which model is being spoken of instead of using the term Wrangler to help identify the specifics
about them.
