The VW Beetle we speak of here is the modern Volkswagen
Beetle from 1998 on up. Volkswagen
actually stands for "The People's Car" and has become
very popular in the United States recently.
The "New" VW Beetle has the engine
in the front unlike the older model which had the
engine in the back of the car. The modern VW Beetle has
disc brakes on all four wheels.
This new version makes around 32mpg.
The Volkswagen Beetle is assembled at the VW Pueblo facility
in Mexico.

More VW Beetle Facts
The Volkswagen New Beetle was first introduced in 1998.
Unlike the original Beetle, the New Beetle has its engine in the front and luggage storage in the rear.
At the 1994 North American International Auto Show, Volkswagen unveiled the Concept 1, retro-themed concept car with a resemblance to the original Volkswagen Beetle.
It is currently assembled in the VW Puebla factory in Mexico.
Engine choices include the 2.0L inline-4 for the base model, the 1.9L TDI, which was discontinued in 2006, and the 1.8L Turbo inline-4 for the Sport models.
In May 2010, Volkswagen announced that production of the New Beetle will cease in 2011.
